Bonny Doon Farm, America’s Original Lavender Farm, was started in 1972 – becoming the first lavender farm in the USA – after the Moeller’s divided their farmstead of 152 acres between their four offspring. Our property continues as a prime agriculturally zoned parcel and is now surrounded by the 500 acre State of California Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve, part of which also was family land, but now is a wild land buffer to the outside world.
When Bonny Doon Farm Lavender started at Ma Moeller’s suggestion, there were only the historical lavender plantings in Europe, England and the Bridestowe Estate in Tasmania. Currently the Farm’s many lavender products enjoy sales around the world.
Diane and Gary started their life purpose in 1972 and sold Lavender Bunches at the original Renaissance Faire.
Diane grew up on this property in Santa Cruz with her siblings, Annette Moeller, MaryJo Koch, and Henry Moeller, renowned potter. A passion for artistic pursuits runs through the Moeller family to include Sunny Koch, Wendy Koch Candellari, and Jonathon Koch.
Just look at our website, and theirs, for a view into the intimate nature of creativity. MaryJo Koch and children Jonathon and Sunny, and Diane herself have created the art used on our Bonny Doon Farm and Meehan products.
Their passion for perfection of purpose and hard work have brought us here to offer many items handmade by neighbors, using ingredients of premium quality. Only the best will do. All products are made right here in California.
